El Rio Golf Club was designed by Matt Dye, the nephew of famed golf course architect Pete Dye. Matt was the lead shaper on many now famous Pete Dye golf courses, and has extensive backgrounds in golf course construction. As you would think, many of the design features feel like his uncle’s work and will test your imagination and skill.

The greens at El Rio offer some classic design features like a Biarritz green with a deep swale in the middle, and most of the putting surfaces feature roll-off and collection areas testing short game skills around the greens. This layout is forgiving for the high handicapper off the tee, yet will also test better players with sneaky bunkering, strategically placed lakes and some fun risk reward holes and shots.
